Most programs prioritize first-generation, low-income, rural, undocumented/DACA, and historically excluded students.
Many programs grant an application fee waiver even if the student is not selected — always apply.
Amherst A2A and Swarthmore Discover both allow the fly-in essay to replace a supplemental essay.
Tufts, Tulane, WashU, CWRU, Lehigh, and BU track demonstrated interest — applying to a fly-in counts.
Haverford (HAL) and Harvey Mudd (FAST) include optional or required admissions interviews.
Many deadlines fall in July and August. Start applications now — several close within days.
Students may apply to multiple fly-in programs simultaneously; there is no penalty for doing so.
Students may apply to either Columbia STARS or Columbia Engineering Preview — not both.
STARS fly-ins (Brown, Columbia, CWRU, Colby, MIT) recommend or require nomination — talk to your counselor early.
